Book Review: Shatter Me Trilogy by Tahereh Mafi

I finally finished reading the Shatter Me trilogy by Tahereh Mafi. The first book in the series is Shatter Me, followed by Unravel Me and then Ignite Me.

Shatter Me trilogy

I can't say I love the trilogy but it was okay. In the first two books, Juliette was really annoying. Her actions and judgments were irrational and mostly based on emotions. There's too much thoughts going on even if some were not really necessary (I think!). Her thoughts about Adam and later about Warner were also too cheesy for me! Haha!

I understand that Juliette's development were intended to take a long time but I expected to see more changes in Unravel Me. In Ignite Me, she was instantly this better Juliette. And I really find it hard to believe. Haha! I guess Juliette is not my type of protagonist.

Anyway, what kept me going was Kenji. I liked that he's smart, sweet and very funny. He's been through a lot (well, all of them) but he was always in a happy disposition especially when he's around his friends. :)

As for Adam and Warner... I don't know. Haha! But I first loved Adam. Warner's true color was suddenly revealed in Ignite Me so one has to digest it first really well before truly accepting him. (That is if you're a Team Adam first!) :)

I liked the story and the idea of super powers but I was not able to connect with the main character. So yeah.... :)

Oh yes, I had my copies signed! :)

Book Signing Event #3: Tahereh Mafi, Ransom Riggs, Veronica Rossi

Hi folks! Yesterday, April 26, I attended another book signing event hosted by National Book Store. Best-selling YA authors, Tahereh Mafi, Ransom Riggs and Veronica Rossi once again visited their fans here in the Philippines. :)

I arrived at Glorietta at around 6:45 AM but the line was long by then. :) I'm actually 113th. Haha! I went alone but I made new friends! :)

Here are some pictures:

This is Sweepie, if I'm not mistaken. Haha!
Sweep was also introduced at the event. It is a reloadable cash card offering a more convenient way of paying for our purchases. The card can be loaded up to Php 5,000, with no maintaining balance required. For more information, you can visit their site: www.sweeponline.com

The event started at around 3 PM. The moment they arrived, people started shouting. Non-stop!I didn't get a better shot because the people in front of me stood up. Sheesh!

I actually did not understand anything from the interview because the KIDS kept on shouting. Ugh! Kids! I will just wait for the other bloggers to blog about their interview. Haha!

Now, with the beautiful Tahereh Mafi. :) I have a love-hate relationship with the Shatter Me trilogy, tbh. Haha! I'm currently reading Ignite Me. And I really really want to be Team Warner, but my heart is with Adam. Poor Adam!

This Chapter Ends Here

After all the struggles, after all the sleepless nights, my UP journey has come to an end.

Life in UP College of Pharmacy was anything but easy. But the challenges molded me, changed me into a different being. Not only did I learn about many areas related to my profession, I also learned... life.

My experiences taught me to be strong, courageous, and patient.  But most of all, my experiences taught me about faith. Faith in myself, faith in others, and faith in God. Without the challenges, I will never be where I am now. Without Him who is giving me life and strength, I will never be someone I am now- someone who can face problems head-on, someone who is ready to face real life head-on.

For every hour spent studying came knowledge of the world I will live in. For every walk made to detoxify came the path I will soon travel. For every tear shed came the realization of my dreams. For every prayer said came the hope that will sustain me.

To my family, thank you for your support, care, and love. To my friends, thank you for keeping me sane. And to you Lord God, thank You for walking with me, for carrying me in times of tiredness, for supplying me with strength, for teaching me lessons about life.

This chapter ends here, but another is yet to be written. The path may be dark. I may not see what is ahead. But Your light is enough for me to continue. I will continue walking despite the uncertainties because I know that Your hands are always there. I will continue walking, not for myself, but for You, to proclaim how amazing You are. I don't deserve You, but You love me anyway. To that, I am more than grateful. The past, the present, and the future, everything I surrender to You. Everything is for You.

This chapter ends here. And I cannot wait for the next one.

Mangrove Tree Planting: Part 2

Going to the island nearby...

 Beautiful sunset :)

Bonfire... Look at those crabs! :)

We, oldies, retired early. Haha! Nah, we were star-gazing . :)

 6 AM view :)

Now the work... mangrove tree planting!

Tried this, but nothing happened so I let others do the digging :)

We did not care if our hands got dirty. Planting was fun! :)

Before going home :)

We sure want to go back, and plant again! 'Til next time! :)

That's all folks! It was fun and fulfilling planting mangroves and helping conserve our coastal areas. :)

Thank you Coca-Cola for sponsoring this project! :)
