What Happened: May 2016

Hi folks!

Welcome to another monthly wrap-up which isn't really much. As usual, I had a very slow reading month, almost a slump actually.

I started reading Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde but had to put it down for a while because I wanted to read something action-packed. Thus, I read Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson. I didn't finish any other book aside from that. -_-

Book Read:
Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson

Currently Reading:
The Many Selves of Katherine North by Emma Geen (from NetGalley)
Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde
Lost in the City by Edward P. Jones

Feature & Follow #27 Favorite Genre in Books

Feature and Follow is a weekly meme hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read. It is where we, book bloggers, can meet new people and gain followers as well!

This week's prompt:
What is (are) your favorite genre(s) in books?

I can say that I'm quite a wide reader. I read from a lot of genres, from contemporary, fantasy, mystery to political and memoirs- both YA and Adult. And I have favorite books from each genre. But my most favorite, I think, is HISTORICAL FICTION. I especially enjoy reading those set in the 19th century and early 20th century.

I guess it's because during those times there were a lot of movement- in the society, politics, economy, healthcare, etc. I find it really interesting to read about the dynamics of people's lives during those times. And one can learn a lot about humanity, especially during the difficult times.

So yes, Historical Fiction. :) How about you? What is/are your favorite genre(s)?

Currently Reading: Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde

I am currently reading the second book in the Thursday Next series. I've read the first book, The Eyre Affair, last October 2015 and really liked it. Thus, I'm happy to be finally reading this one!

Like The Eyre Affair, Lost in a Good Book has a very weird factor in it but entertaining. I am only few pages in, but I can't wait to know more of Thursday's adventure.

Thursday Next, literary detective and newlywed, is back to embark on an adventure that begins on her own doorstep. It seems that Landen, her husband, actually drowned in an accident when he was two years old. Someone, somewhere, sometime, is responsible.

Btw, here's my review of The Eyre Affair. :)

How about you? What are you reading?

Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein: Book Review

Title: Code Name Verity
Author: Elizabeth Wein
Series: Code Name Verity #1
Publication Details: February 6th 2012 by Egmont Press

I have two weeks. You'll shoot me at the end no matter what I do.

That's what you do to enemy agents. It's what we do to enemy agents. But I look at all the dark and twisted roads ahead and cooperation is the easy way out. Possibly the only way out for a girl caught red-handed doing dirty work like mine - and I will do anything, anything to avoid SS-Hauptsturmf├╝hrer von Linden interrogating me again.

He has said that I can have as much paper as I need. All I have to do is cough up everything I can remember about the British War Effort. And I'm going to. But the story of how I came to be here starts with my friend Maddie. She is the pilot who flew me into France - an Allied Invasion of Two.

We are a sensational team.

A beautiful story of friendship, honesty, bravery and trust in times of war.

My friend and I also watched Les Miserables last April 13 at the Solaire Theater. The musical was really amazing!

I hope in the future I will be able to watch Phantom of the Opera and other great musicals. :)

That's all folks for my April!

Cheers to a productive May! (I hope...)
