What Happened: July and August 2019

Hi folks!

I cannot believe we are only 4 months away from 2020! Didn't we just enter 2019? Time flies so fast!

People say time flies when you're enjoying. But time also flies when you're very busy. Really though, I feel like 24 hours aren't enough! Anyway, no ranting. 😁

Since my last post (Wonder book review), I accomplished quite a lot if I do say so myself. Of course, there's work taking majority of my time but I also had other things. Let's see...

July
July was a slow reading month for me because of work (surprise, surprise). I only finished one book- Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman, but I did start A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara.

I also had some beach time in July with my forever travel buddy- my cousin. 😁 We went again to Liwliwa, San Felipe, Zambales to have some time away from the city and just enjoy the beach. We also met some cool, inspiring people there that sparked my vegan-curious mind.

Speaking of vegan, I am not yet vegan. But I am slowly transitioning. Emphasis on slowly. I will get there someday. Haha! 😁

In July, I tried to journal every day. I might have missed a few days but I think I was successful in that area. Every morning, before starting work and after my morning devotion, I wrote in my journal. I did not have a minimum or maximum paragraph or page number. I just let my mind and hands wander.

I also tried working-out at home. Haha! I was so bad at this, but hey I tried. I think I need a lot of motivation to make this a part of my routine.

August
Aaaah the busiest month at work. I was not mindful at all during this toxic month. I was not able to journal every day, and I did not work-out at all. Haha! I will redeem myself in September I promise. 😉

For work though, MIMS Editorial gets to maintain its ISO certification yey! It was quite a stressful preparation with all my usual workload. But we all got through it. To God be the glory!

Surprisingly, despite my busy schedule, I had a good reading month! I read 3 physical books! And listened to two audio books:

The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson- ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Marina by Carlos Ruiz Zafon- ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini- ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling (audio book)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (audio book)

I also started reading Hearing God by Dallas Willard, and started having devotions based on the book every week. I particularly like the lectio divina part. 😁

Of course, it's very unlikely that a month will pass without a book haul. Haha! I have some book hauls too, but I will have a separate post for them. 😍

-o-

Moving forward... I still have some happenings in the last week of August. It's quite packed with work things and other non-work things. But I am looking forward to next month!

September is Manila International Book Fair month. I am definitely ready to buy some new books! I have yet to make a list though. Otherwise, I will overspend. Haha!

Also, since September is relatively a not-so-toxic month at work, I will try my best to be mindful again and get back to journalling every day and working-out regularly. Wish me good luck! I will also study the book of Esther in the Bible. Yey! 😁

That's all folks! September will definitely be the month I will focus more on my relationship with God, and focus on self-love. September will be the month I move forward. 💗
